For many organizations, workplace culture is often described as a company value. At DIMO, it is something employees experience every day. This concept recently gained further recognition with DIMO being named one of Sri Lanka's Great Places to Work. Yet, beyond the accolade itself, the recognition serves as something far more meaningful, as it reflects the everyday experiences of the people who make up the organization. This certification is based entirely on employee feedback. Therefore, it offers an authentic measure of how individuals perceive their workplace and speaks to the quality of leadership, the strength of relationships, and the sense of trust that has been built across the organization over time.

As Dilrukshi Kurukulasuriya, Chief Human Resources Officer and Executive Director of DIMO, explains, this recognition reflects how our people experience DIMO every day. While policies and frameworks are important, culture is essentially built through trust, relationships, leadership behavior, and the extent to which people feel valued and heard. The conversations behind the survey also highlighted that employees are no longer motivated solely by career advancement or financial rewards. Instead, they are looking for purpose in what they do, opportunities to grow, and leaders who are approachable, transparent, and willing to listen.

Understanding these expectations has reinforced DIMO's long-standing belief that culture is shaped through consistent leadership and a shared commitment to the organization's values, regardless of role or function. This commitment has proven especially important during the challenges of the pandemic, economic uncertainty, and other external crises tested organizations in unprecedented ways. For DIMO, those moments demonstrated that a resilient workplace is built long before difficult times arise. As Ms. Kurukulasuriya notes, culture is no longer separate from business performance; it is a strategic advantage we strongly believe in.

Looking ahead, DIMO continues to strengthen this foundation by investing in capable leadership, fostering inclusive teams, and encouraging continuous learning as the workplace evolves. While the Great Place to Work recognition marks an important milestone, DIMO views it as part of a much broader journey where an exceptional workplace is not defined by a single award, but by consistently creating an environment where people feel trusted, valued, and inspired to do their best work.
