When AI Moves Beyond the Cloud

Artificial intelligence is no longer confined to massive data centres. It is steadily moving closer to where people work, create and interact with technology, and NVIDIA and MediaTek are expanding their long standing partnership to help accelerate that shift. Announced on August 31, 2026, the collaboration brings together NVIDIA’s expertise in accelerated computing and AI with MediaTek’s strengths in custom silicon, connectivity and power efficient system on chip design.
The expanded partnership will focus on three areas: AI infrastructure, local AI computing and automotive technology. MediaTek will adopt NVIDIA’s NVLink Fusion platform, giving cloud providers and AI developers a pre-validated foundation for creating custom AI accelerators that can connect with NVIDIA’s rack scale systems. The companies are also continuing their work on AI capable PCs through NVIDIA RTX Spark and DGX Spark, while developing platforms for increasingly intelligent vehicles. NVIDIA has further invested $3.5 billion in convertible bonds issued by MediaTek, strengthening the relationship between the two semiconductor companies.
What makes the collaboration notable is its ambition to connect different layers of computing, from large AI factories to personal devices and vehicles. Rather than treating AI as something that exists only in the cloud, the two companies are working toward a future where intelligence can operate across a much wider technology landscape. As AI becomes increasingly embedded in everyday computing, partnerships such as this could help shape how that intelligence is delivered, connected and experienced.
