DEUTZ Is Building More Than Engines

For more than a century, DEUTZ has been associated with engines. Now, the company is preparing to enter a very different chapter. In a move that could significantly reshape its future, DEUTZ shareholders have approved the acquisition of FFG Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft, paving the way for the company to expand from engine manufacturing into the defence sector.
The transaction received around 99.7 percent of votes at DEUTZ’s extraordinary general meeting, reflecting strong shareholder support for the transformation. FFG, headquartered in Flensburg, Germany, specialises in military ground and special purpose vehicles and supplies armed forces in more than 15 countries. With more than 1,100 employees across nine sites, the company produces, maintains and modernises wheeled and tracked military vehicles. It generated around €760 million in revenue in 2025, with orders on hand exceeding €1.9 billion.
For DEUTZ, however, this is about more than acquiring a new business. FFG is expected to become the core of its defence activities while creating opportunities for synergies, new markets and stronger growth across the Group. The acquisition is also expected to accelerate DEUTZ toward its 2030 revenue and margin ambitions. Subject to remaining approvals, the transaction is expected to be completed in late 2026 or early 2027, marking a defining step in DEUTZ’s evolution from an engine manufacturer into a diversified industrial company.
