Ludwigshafen, Germany – BASF has announced the launch of a new €1 billion share buyback programme, scheduled to begin in August 2026 and continue until April 2027. The initiative forms part of the company's broader commitment to return value to shareholders through a €4 billion share buyback plan running until the end of 2028, while also strengthening its long-term financial position.

The company plans to cancel the repurchased shares, reducing its share capital and optimising its capital structure. BASF has already repurchased approximately €1.5 billion worth of shares between November 2025 and June 2026, with the latest programme building on that momentum. Alongside the buyback, the company also intends to significantly reduce its net debt by repaying €1.6 billion in bonds and loans ahead of schedule, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining a strong balance sheet.

The share buyback forms part of BASF's long-term "Winning Ways" strategy, which aims to distribute at least €12 billion to shareholders between 2025 and 2028 through a combination of dividends and share repurchases. By balancing shareholder returns with disciplined financial management, BASF continues to position itself for sustainable growth while maintaining the financial flexibility needed to support its future ambitions.
